 WOOL
Westvale has had a
registered flock for over fifty (50) years. It was started on Mirani
blood graduating toMerryville and Merryville daughter studs. A
little Sierra Park has been introduced to fine the crimp but after
so much time we now call ourselves Westvale blood.
PRODUCTION AIMS
We aim to produce large
bodied sheep with special attention to the coverage of bellies and
points. We believe good well prepared bellies can be marketed as
fleece wools.
STYLE
Stylish (highly crimped,
well nourished) bright soft handling wool suitable to the Italian
Spinners & weavers is our aim. Over the past many years our wool
has been keenly sought after by Lanificio Successori Reda, S.P.A.
Vitale Barbaris Canonico, S.P.A. Trabaldo Togna, S.P.A & G.
Schneider S.P.A.
FLEECE AWARDS
- Reserve Grand Champion Fleece in Bendigo 2007. Ultra Fleece
Our shearing is contracted but the preparation
of the wool for market is handled by our own staff under the
watchful eye of Leo. Westvale produces approximately 15 bales of
spinners type fleece each year.
Many broad ribbons have been won at northern shows, including
Grand Champion Fleece at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in Bendigo 2004. |
